THE ART OF HYDRATION. EXCELLENCE SINCE 1908.
THE FOUNDATION OF SIGG: VISION AND COURAGE
The history of SIGG Switzerland Bottles AG begins in 1908: After his years of apprenticeship and travel, Ferdinand Sigg, a specialist in metal processing, returns to Switzerland. In Biel, he and his friend Xaver Küng set up a factory for aluminum goods.
Sigg and Küng are united by their love of metal and the conviction that aluminum is the material of the future.

MOVE FROM BIEL TO FRAUENFELD
Their success proves them right: just one year after starting production, Küng, Sigg & Cie already employed 30 people. Shortly before the move to Frauenfeld in 1917, Xaver Küng left the company. It was renamed SIGG AG Aluminiumwarenfabrik.
The company retained its name even when it was taken over by its main supplier in 1936 after years of expansion and success.
OVER 10,000 PRODUCTS
From the beginning, SIGG sold a wide range of pots, pans, teacups, cutlery and household goods, including hot water and water bottles. Over time, the company successfully conquered new markets with new ideas. In 1958, the range included well over 10,000 products! The SIGG bottle became part of the household goods range by chance. When pots and pans were manufactured, large quantities of surplus aluminium were produced as waste. During the war years, when resources were scarce, a sensible use for the valuable raw material was sought and found: SIGG developed a bottle!
HER CAREER BEGAN IN BED
There is a different story behind today's SIGG Bottle than most people assume: its predecessor is not the canteen from the 1920s, but the bed bottle, model 26.1661. It came onto the market in the 1960s. Its profile was later roughly adopted by the classic Traveller Bottle, which soon became widespread. There is a different story behind today's SIGG Bottle than most people assume: its predecessor is not the canteen from the 1920s, but the bed bottle, model 26.1661. FAMOUS DESIGN
Design becomes an important factor in all SIGG products. The product range is reduced. In the following years, SIGG designers develop classic objects such as the Traveller screw cap, style-defining cookware and well-known household appliances.
NEW LAUNCHES: A CLASSIC AND COLORS
The history of the SIGG Traveller bottle was different than you might think: it was not a drinks bottle from the 1920s that was the inspiration for it, but a hot water bottle from 1961. The classic Water Bottle from SIGG takes up the shape of the hot water bottle and is still considered the epitome of the reusable aluminum drinking bottle.

MULTI-COLORED BOTTLES & NEW CAPS
At the beginning of the 1990s, new products were developed, such as the 0.75 l aluminum sports bottle with the innovative three-stage sports cap. At the same time, SIGG introduced multi-colored bottles for children and travel bottles, thus meeting the trends and needs of the following years.
SIGG MOVES INTO THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
The "Original Swiss Bottle" is also an example of world-famous design and production performance. It received the highest recognition in 1993 when it was included in the renowned Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
In the same year, SIGG produced its first design collection, turning a functional product into a sought-after fashion accessory and collector's item.
REALIGNMENT AND FOCUS ON WATER BOTTLES
After the takeover of SIGG Switzerland AG by a group of investors, the company is realigning its focus and product range in order to be prepared for the future. As the world market leader in the field of aluminum drinking bottles, SIGG wants to further expand its position. Therefore, the decision is made to focus production and business specifically on the bottles.
THE OBJECT OF DESIRE APPEARS
This drinking bottle marked the beginning of the era of SIGG Limited Editions. The "Swiss Cross" bottle was elaborately manufactured and finished with exquisite materials. A red leather cover with a white-bordered Swiss cross protects the 0.6 liter aluminum bottle. The "Swiss Cross" drinking bottle is very popular with collectors thanks to its unusual appearance.
NEW SIGG HEADQUARTERS
In 2004, SIGG moved into new premises. The new office and warehouse building reflects the pioneering spirit and dynamism of SIGG: the facade of the building is made of aluminum and the surroundings are made of the mineral stone bauxite, the raw material for pure aluminum.
100 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
SIGG celebrates its 100th anniversary with a market presence in more than 40 countries and as the market leader in the field of aluminum drinking bottles. In the same year, SIGG expands its production facilities and introduces a new Kids Bottle Top.
A NEW OWNER – AND EVEN BETTER ACCESS TO CHINA
In February 2016, SIGG was acquired by HAERS, a Chinese manufacturer of stainless steel vacuum bottles. Access to the fast-growing Chinese market and its expertise in stainless steel, polypropylene and Tritan products made the new parent company the ideal partner.
The aluminum bottles are still manufactured at SIGG’s headquarters in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.
