Back to School

Back to School! It's that time again!

Back to School! Es ist wieder soweit!

It's that time of year again - summer is coming to an end and the kids are going back to school! At SIGG, we know that your children are the most important thing in the world and that their health and happiness is paramount. For the coming school year, we have a wide selection of Lunchboxes and Kids Water Bottles specially designed for children in our range to make sure they are well equipped for the start of school. With kid-friendly designs, including their favorite Disney or Star Wars characters, your kids will have a fun start to the new school year!

After you've bought a Lunchbox for your child, the next question is "What to put in the SIGG Lunchbox?". It has to be something healthy and tasty at the same time so that the children look forward to their snack. This is definitely a challenge! We have a few tips on how to make it work.

1) Always have healthy food on hand

Children will eat anything that's nearby. Instead of keeping fruit and vegetables in the fridge, you can display them in a pretty fruit bowl on the counter. Always in the child's field of vision, they are sure to reach for it.

2) Set a good example

Children imitate their parents. In their eyes, everything that is good for you is also good for them. How about sharing an apple for an afternoon snack or a fruit salad?

3) Offer good alternatives

Children love sweets, they taste delicious and the vibrant colors appeal to them - the same goes for many fruits. Instead of a sweet in the Lunchboxes, how about some chopped up pieces of fruit and a dab of chocolate sauce? If that sounds like too much work, you can also use dried banana or papaya chips. There's a healthy alternative for every type of junk food.

4) Positive associations

Instead of telling kids that certain foods are "bad", tie them to healthy foods! To things that are important to them, like sports or doing well in school. Let them know that a healthy breakfast will help them concentrate at school or that certain fruits or vegetables will help them have healthy skin and shiny hair.

5) Fruit juices

It is a fact that most children like to drink sweet drinks. While they should drink enough at school to maintain their attention span, there are alternatives. Why not fill up a SIGG bottle with fruit juice and water or a combination of your choice? Orange and pineapple juice is a personal favorite of ours...

6) The three-try rule

Sometimes kids say they don't like something because of the look or color of the food they are offered. But sometimes also because of the taste. Forcing children to eat something they really don't like can have a negative effect on their eating habits. This is where the three-try rule comes into play: something should be tried at least three times in different ways. If it still doesn't taste good, the children are allowed to dislike something.

Keep these ideas in mind when you set out the Lunchboxes and Water Bottles in the morning and your children will learn early on what healthy eating means.

Have fun trying them out!
