For many single riders, the quality of the après ski is almost as important as the ski itself. In both of these regards, Zermatt excels. Many of the slopes in Zermatt are not suitable for beginners, so this is a resort for people who really know their stuff. Zermatt has the highest winter sports area in all of the Alps which peaks at an altitude of 3,900 meters. There is also more than 2,133 meters of vertical drop. It also goes without saying that Zermatt is also home to one of the world’s most iconic mountains, the Matterhorn, which rises directly behind the town and is visible from most of the 360 kilometer trail system which connects 2 countries and 3 resort towns, so there is also the possibility to ski over the Theodul Pass and down into the Italian trail system. During the main season the town also has a nightlife atmosphere which has been nicknamed a “winter Ibiza” which is another reason why this is the best location for a single rider.
Couples – St Moritz
As Switzerland’s most iconic and famous ski location, St Moritz is still the most idyllic location for a couple’s vacation. Simply put, the location is a classic. As one of the world’s oldest winter sports resorts, St Moritz has hosted the winter Olympics twice and has frequently hosted world class winter sport events. Aside from its fame as a world class winter sports location, it retains a very classically winter activities which lends itself well to all other things, be it a log fire, a glass of wine, or a late-night fondue. As the original and the first, St Moritz is hard to beat for the ultimate couple getaway.
